Wk 15 – Artist Conversation – Nicholas Dison

Nicholas Dison is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Art Degree in Ceramics and is in his final year.┬áDison’s work is very detailed and it is obviously demonstrated in each meticulous detail regarding each piece of art. I am especially astounded that he has such an abundant gallery to show off with the amount of detail in each piece. In each picture, we notice that there are objects of different lengths in order to be created. It comes to no surprise that he’s pursuing a degree in ceramics as this entire gallery says it all. When I first walked into the … Continue reading Wk 15 – Artist Conversation – Nicholas Dison

Wk 14 – Classmate Conversation

The classmate that I met this week is Mark Nguyen. Mark is a second year like myself who is studying Nursing (not like myself). Mark has always been a kind person since the day I first saw him but didn’t really get to meet him because we’re always too busy looking at something else. I believe that Mark will be a great friend throughout the years because we generally have the same interests. He believes that attaining a standardized education has become the norm for success in today’s world and by 2036, it will be absolutely expensive in response to … Continue reading Wk 14 – Classmate Conversation

Wk 14 – Art Activity – Instagram Hashtag

In my instagram account @drinksandpictures I uploaded this photo above. Instagram in my opinion is the one of the top most popular social media platform along with facebook and twitter (recently snapchat as well). I believe that Instagram has done a fantastic job in encouraging people to pick up their cameras and capture memories. This task is something that people usually forget as they’re growing up and end up with no memories to look back on. Sometimes people even use instagram as a platform for public service announcements and it is a brilliant idea as seen by President-Elect Donald … Continue reading Wk 14 – Art Activity – Instagram Hashtag

Wk 12 – Artist Conversation – Sage Garver

In week 12, the class actually dispersed instead of all of us crowding up on the Merlino Gallery! Well, maybe just me I suppose, but I had the opportunity to go into the ┬áDutzi-Gallery and see Sage Garver’s art. Upon reading the artist’s statement, I felt an immediate tension in the room because I found out what the art on the wall symbolizes. I remember that when I was little, I was prone to being ill so many times. I enjoyed it back then because I got to stay home from school. However, as I grew older, I immediately regret … Continue reading Wk 12 – Artist Conversation – Sage Garver

Wk 11- Classmate Conversation – Melissa Passarelli

Melissa Passarelli was a fun person to meet and tzlk to! We were looking at Caryn Aasness’ exhibit together and I just asked her how her day was going so far. Like any other person, she was sort of shy in the beginning, but once we warmed up the conversation a little bit further, she opened up and we began talking about art. We managed to segue into the question of the week: “Is the way Demi Lovato reacted to fan-art justified? Why and why not?”. Melissa and I after several minutes came to the conclusion that her reaction is … Continue reading Wk 11- Classmate Conversation – Melissa Passarelli

Wk 11 – Artist Conversation – Caryn Aasness

For week 11, our class had the opportunity to meet Caryn Aasness. She also gave us her instagram username at: levelyellowproblemchild in the Merlino Gallery. Aasness was very open about her art. The text on her fabric seems to be directed at the audience that does not take time to analyze situations in life prior to making sudden judgments or decisions. When I first walked into the exhibit, I saw that every single piece of fabric to be symmetrical and detailed to the point where it seemed unrealistic. Caryn talks about how much commitment it requires in order to create … Continue reading Wk 11 – Artist Conversation – Caryn Aasness

Wk 10 – Art Activity – Fiber Art Social Network

In art this week, we got to visit Professor Zucman’s office! Man, the amount of spirit in that tiny office is vibrant and very welcoming. Of course, I got lost with my friend Brandon on the way there. We then saw other classmates walk toward the building stairs and we followed them. The office has been filled with strings connected with each other in just about every possible way. A social network these days is defined as an application downloaded on the phone to help us engage in communicating with our peers, families, and coworkers in a much more convenient … Continue reading Wk 10 – Art Activity – Fiber Art Social Network
